On Tuesday, January 31st, Medialoc took part in the IFFR Pro Dialogue: Green Filmmaking and Co-Production – a Contradiction or an Opportunity?

FilmForward and the Creative Europe Desks NL, Flanders, Luxembourg, in collaboration with IFFR Pro, engaged in a discussion with film professionals about sustainable production practices and how they relate to international co-production and expenditure obligations. The panel discussion featured esteemed speakers such as Laurette Schillings (founder Film For Future), Jeremy Zelnik (producer and founder of Les Arcs European Film Festival) and Tobias Wilbrink (producer and Eco Consultant of the Dutch Film Fund), with Doreen Boonekamp as the moderator.

Janneke van Laar and Frans van der Groen from Medialoc actively participated in the dialogue, fostering a lively conversation about conducting environmental impact assessments on the one hand to implementing tangible measures within the industry on the other. Naturally, the discussion also touched upon the opportunities and challenges of virtual cinema and digitalization in the sector.

The event led to an invigorating exchange of ideas, showcasing inspiring examples. However, the consensus reached was that there is still much work to be done within the sector, and it would greatly benefit from dedicated trailblazers and robust legislation and regulations.
