Medialoc and MOOOV have teamed up with Belgian libraries and Cultuurconnect to introduce an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing cultural offerings in Belgium. The library of Turnhout, Belgium, has recently integrated a screening room for Video-On-Demand (VOD) directly into its website, courtesy of Medialoc.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Turnhout library, Medialoc, in partnership with MOOOV, has launched a special online film program. Running from October 2023 until February 2024, this program offers a selection of 50 films exclusively available for free to the library’s 12,865 members. Access is granted through personal credentials provided by the library.

MOOOV, known for its expertise in curating compelling film programs, has meticulously selected the films featured in this celebratory lineup. Cultuurconnect, a key player in fostering collaboration and digital innovation within Belgium’s cultural sector, has facilitated the seamless integration of this unique virtual cinema experience.

Building upon this success, MOOOV and Medialoc are now in discussions with other Belgian libraries to extend similar offerings. The library of Jabbeke, Belgium, is slated to be the next participant, with plans underway to launch their own online film program starting in the first quarter of 2024.

This initiative represents a significant step forward in leveraging digital platforms to enrich cultural experiences and broaden access to diverse content within library settings. Medialoc and MOOOV remain committed to fostering further partnerships to expand the reach of virtual cinema across Belgium’s library network.
